How do clouds form? It's a popular weather question a lot of people ask and not many know how or why clouds form. Find out here.



We see clouds everyday. People daydream and try to make out shapes and formations in the clouds. But what makes a cloud form? There are a lot of processes that go on for clouds to form. Not all clouds are guaranteed to have precipitation and vice versa. There are three main ingredients needed for clouds to form and they are moisture, dust particles, and temperature changes. The dust particles are also called condensation nuclei and these can come from many sources such as volcanoes, cars, or fires.

The temperature change is very important towards cloud formation. As the temperature drops, the air can't hold as much wator vapor as if it would if it was warm. You ever wonder why it's always more cloudy in the wintertime and those clouds are giving you the blues? That's why.

The lower the temperature, the more condensation that can occur. Once condensation occurs, water molecules can condense together and then form water droplets. All clouds are made up of condensed water or ice and you can also tell what ype of weather may be coming your way by the type of clouds that form

Different Types of Clouds. Usually if the clouds are dark and menacing, you can bet precipitation is on the way. If they are white, then you reall have nothing to worry about!
