Tornadic weather can occur anywhere, but Tornado Alley is the place where the most tornadoes (as well as the most powerful) tornadoes happen in the world.

Here is where those rare EF5 and EF4 tornadoes are more likely to happen. The area stretches from Texas all the way up to Minnesota, so it covers quite a large area. Why is this area so prone to tornadic weather? Well for one, the weather in this area can have the most instability and spin are in the atmosphere during the warm weather months. Warm air from the Gulf of Mexico come up and collide with the cooler air from the west (low pressure weather systems). This all happens right in the middle of the United States in the area deemed Tornado Alley. Here is a map:

There are also a few areas outside of the main Tornado Alley which also have a high frequency of tornadic storms. Areas like Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri, and Illinois, also have a high risk of tornadoes. An area called "Dixie Alley" exists just to the east of Tornado Alley. Lots of tornadic weather can happen here. The reason Dixie Alley and other areas aren't included are because Tornado Alley is usually where they are most dangerous.

This area is also where most storm chasers go during "tornado season" and of course the internet has made things more interactive when it comes to the weather. People now actually stream live weather from storms, and many weather fans tune in to these live streams in hopes of seeing tornadoes form. Tornado chasing can be draining and most of the time, you don't even get to see a twister. But for those who do it, it is a very rewarding weather experience.
