Natural Disaster MoviesList of the Best Movies for DisastersMany people love natural disaster movies. Over the years as technology has gotten better, there have been more disaster movies. Here is a list of some of my favorites.I have always been a fan of natural disaster movies. Seeing as I was already interested in natural disasters, going to see movies where I could experience them from the safety of the movie screen was always enjoyable for me. Some disaster movies are just destruction for 2 hours, but soem movies actually make you think about a certain problem that humanity has. There have been a ton of natural disaster movies that have been made over the years. Here is a list of some of my personal favorites and ones that I recommend you check out: Armageddon (1998) Armageddon was a well known disaster movie that was released in 1998. With big stars such as Bruce Willis and Ben Afleck, it was set to be a big summer blockbuster. It didn't do as well as expected and received mixed reviews, but it still one of my favorites. The plot is earth is in danger of being hit by asteroids. It needs to be saved, and the movie follows a team of people chosen to save the earth and humans from extinction. Twister (1996) Twister is still one of my favorites. It is probably the best tornado movie out there even though it was released nearly two decades ago. With Bill Paxton and Heather Hunt, you will find a lot of adventure in this movie about tornadoes. 2012 (2009) If you want the ultimate natural disaster movie, 2012 is probably your best bet. It covers nearly everything and the special effects are off the charts. Although quite long, it is the perfect movie to just be entertained by and enjoy. It's plot is based on the many 2012 end of the world predictions that have been made. The Day After Tomorrow (2004) This another exciting disaster movie that covers almost every natural disaster there is (except for earthquakes). It supposes what would happen if another ice age suddenly occured due to global warming. Truly entertaining. Deep Impact (1998) 1998 was a year when everyone seemed to be concerned about whether or not earth would be hit by an asteroid. Deep Impact was one of two movies about rocks from space hitting earth and causing mass destruction (the other movie being Armageddon above) This is another favorite of mine as think they executed the ideas of what would happen very well. Volcano (1997) With Tommy Lee Jones as the lead, this movie received mixed reviews, but it is still a movie I enjoy watching. Basically, a volcano arises in downtown Los Angeles, and they have to figure out how to survive and live with the new threat. Dante's Peak (1997) This was another volcano movie released in 1997. With Pierce Brosnan as the lead, the movie recieved so so reviews. I still enjoyed simply for the special effects and disaster scenes. Esepcially at the end when the volcano blows its top. Knowing (2009) Knowing features Nicholas Cage as the lead and is based on a set of predictions that foretell the end of the world. It's not clear on what exactly is the danger until the end of the movie...when it's too late. There is also an alien addition to this movie.
