Winter checklist: - Hand warmers. You can find these in most large chain stores - A shovel. If you get stuck in the snow, this will come in handy - Flashlight - First Aid Kit - Quick snacks that can last long like dried fruit and nuts - Warm blankets - Windshield scraper - Road flares - Cat litter. If you get stuck, you can use the sand for traction - Cell Phone and chargers - Water - Coffee can - Warm socks, mittens, and a winter hat - Batteries If your car breaks down, or if you get stuck during a blizzard or winter storm, do not attempt to walk out in the storm. Especially if you are in a deserted area. It is better to try to stay warm in the car and wait for help.
Hurricane Survival Kit Checklist Ideally if a hurricane is coming your way, especially a major one, you would like to evacuate the area instead of riding out the storm, but of course sometimes situations don't always work out as planned. Here are the things you need just in case you need to ride out a hurricane: - Water. This is a no brainer and you should keep the water in plastic water. Keep one gallon per person that can last for three days. - Food. You should have a three day supply of non perishable food. With the power being gone, you will need foods that don't require a microwave, refrigerator, etc. Things like ready to eat canned foods (fruit, meat, vegetables, etc) and vitamins are excellent - A First Aid kit is essential. It has almost everything you need just in case someone gets hurt during the storm. Things like bandages, gauze pads, scissors, insulin for diabetics, etc are included - For clothes, you should have some warm clothing on hand and also blankets and sleeping bags. Rain gear and at least one fresh set of clothing will be needed as well. - Flaishlights - Weather Radio - Cell Phones could be useful even with the networks down (and chargers) - Full tank of gas. This is something you would do before the storm, as even if you try to evacuate, it can get pretty crowded and you never know if you may get stuck or not in traffic. Tornado Survival Kit Checklist A tornado can take anyone by surprise. If you happen to be the unfortunate victim of this disaster, here is what you need in your shelter to stay prepared: - Water - Canned food and other non perishable food - Cell Phone and chargers - Warm blankets - Weather Radio - Flashlights - A whistle - Glow Sticks - Spare glasses - Extra cash - Tools like screwdrivers, hammer, and pliers All in all, the things listed for each disaster situation could be applied to one another, as well as things like earthquakes, tsunamis, forest fires, etc. Just remember, it's always better to be safe than sorry.
